In recent months, at either 9-1-1 meetings or budget hearings, we’ve heard 9-1-1 Director Jerry Bird speak ad nauseam about numerous calls made to Greene County 9-1-1 that were not actually emergency situations.
It is well documented making such calls is against the law, and a Greeneville man is scheduled to explain himself to a judge.
Greeneville Police responded to a Mason Street residence Wednesday afternoon after they say Steven Edson had called 9-1-1 dispatch multiple times over the same issue and had been advised by offices to only call 9-1-1 for emergency situations. A Police Department report indicated Edson has called 9-1-1 three times between this past Saturday and yesterday.
A summons was issued for Edson to appear in Sessions Court Friday morning.
