A domestic disturbance between a mother and her adult son escalated Friday morning, resulting in the son being hospitalized with a stab wound.
Around 9:00 a.m. Friday, deputies responded to a residence on Earl Baxter Road. According to the officer’s report, the altercation began as an argument over conspiracy theories. The son told deputies he became frustrated with what he described as his mother’s ‘ongoing nonsense’ and admitted to grabbing and pinning her down during the confrontation.
The mother, who had a Swiss army knife in her pocket, told deputies she feared for her life and stabbed her son in the abdomen on his right side in what she claimed was self-defense. She stated the son had been physically abusive toward her in the past and that she believed he was going to kill her during the incident.
Both individuals acknowledged they had been drinking prior to the altercation. The son was transported to Holston Valley Medical Center for treatment. A warrant for domestic assault against the son is pending.
