A driver involved in a two-vehicle accident in the 8700 block of Lonesome Pine Trail around 8:30 Monday night allegedly fled the scene after causing the collision.
According to a report from the Tennessee Highway Patrol, a Toyota Tundra driven by 44-year-old Nathan Daniel of Tennessee was driving toward Greeneville and entered a sharp right curve. A Honda minivan going the opposite direction crossed the double yellow center line, causing the collision. The Honda then continued off the roadway into a field, while the Toyota stopped in the lane of travel.
The THP reported the driver of the Honda ran from the scene and was tracked to Gap Mountain Road before evading capture. A person of interest has been named, but the identity of the driver remains unknown. The investigation is ongoing.
Daniel was not injured in the accident.
