Be aware that there is a lot of debris strewn along the roadways after this morning’s severe thunderstorms, including limbs, garbage, metal, trees and downed power lines.
Greene County fell under a Severe Thunderstorm warning around 2:15 this morning until 3:45, when the wind and rain and lightning finally let up.
Authorities were out during the thick of it, trying to clear trees from the roads, including one on Tusculum Boulevard, near the Main Street intersection.
Greene County was under a Tornado Watch from about 2:00 AM until it was cancelled at 4:00.
As of 5:00 AM there were over 9,000 people in Greene County without power, according to the Greeneville Energy Authority’s outage map, with the majority of those concentrated in Caney Branch, South Greene, Mosheim, the Court House District, Debusk and Greystone.
