A plane built by students at the Greene Tech Center over the past three years officially took its first official flight on Tuesday.
The aircraft was built by students in the Aviation Flight Program.
Tech Center Principal Aaron Flanary says the TangoFlight plane was a team effort from the students , parents to the mentors, school district and teachers.
The Niswonger Foundation gave the center a STEM grant to purchase the airplane kit in hopes it would provide a hands-on learning experience for students and yesterday Scott Niswonger was among those in attendance on the special day.
Niswonger, Flanary and Director of the Greeneville City Schools Steve Starnes spoke to those in attendance during the morning presentation at the Greeneville Municipal Airport.
