Washington County Sheriff’s Office confirmed the identity Saturday of the remains found in Jonesborough along the Nolichucky River on May 1st.
The body was identified as Steven Cloyd, as confirmed to Sheriff Keith Sexton from the medical examiner.
Human remains were found Thursday afternoon along the Nolichucky River, and authorities said at that time, they beleived the death was flood related.
Sheriff Sexton stated in a Facebook post: “Crews clearing debris located the remains, and our Investigators worked with the medical examiner to identify Steve.”
Steve Cloyd was one of two individuals missing from the flooding caused by Hurricane Helene. Nancy Tucker remains missing.
