Greeneville Water Commission members were told Tuesday hopes are to have the pumping operations at the water pump station on the Nolichucky back inside and out of the elements in July.
Superintendent Laura White reported masonry work on the pump station building has been completed. Once back inside and all necessary components have arrived and are installed , the facility can get back to electric power vs the more expensive diesel powered pumps currently being used on the banks of the river.
BUDGET TALKS
With members of the Greeneville City Council in attendance, Kaci Lowe outlined budget needs and plans moving forward for the remainder of the fiscal year and for the new 2025-2026 budget year. The Water Commission approved the budget. City Council will consider it when they finalize budget numbers for the upcoming year.
RATE INCREASE
The second of a three year staggered water and sewer rate increase implemented in 2024 will be included in the upcoming budget year.
HEAL FUNDS
Superintendent White says the first of the HEAL funds to help offset flooding costs are expected to arrive from the county this week. The county is serving as the fiscal agent for those monies, which are scheduled to be distributed soon after invoices are submitted.
