An arrest was made early this morning for Evading Arrest and Driving Under the Influence.
Officers on patrol saw a silver car burn out in the middle of East Andrew Johnson Highway near the Justis Drive intersection this morning around 1:00 AM. According to the report, the car drove west at a high rate of speed, confirmed by radar to be 65 in a 40 mph zone.
Police initiated lights, however the vehicle continued, turning into the Days Inn Hotel parking lot. The car was located unoccupied and a witness told officer the driver has gone into one of the rooms.
Police made contact with the occupant, identified as Wyatt Rimes of Naples, Florida. Rimes reportedly admitted the vehicle was his and that he had been drinking at a nearby restaurant.
Rimes was placed under arrest, charged for Driving Under the Influence, Violation of Implied Consent, Evading Officers, Speeding, and Failure of Financial Responsibility.
