The Tennessee Department of Labor & Workforce Development reported Thursday afternoon Greene County’s unemployment rate in March was 4.2 percent, down from 4.4 percent in February.
Greene County’s rate in March 2024 was 3.9 percent.
The unemployment rate for March 2025 decreased in 70 Tennessee counties, increased in eight counties, and remained the same in 17 counties. Williamson County had the lowest rate at 2.4 percent, while Pickett County had the highest rate at 5.7 percent. Only four counties in the state recorded unemployment rates of 5 percent or higher.
The state’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for March was 3.6 percent, down slightly from 3.7 percent in February. Tennessee’s rate had been at 3.7 percent for six consecutive months.
