A car apparently left abandoned on Brittontown Road near Davis Valley Road was destroyed by fire early today.
Newmansville Volunteer Fire Department responded to the 4:46 am call after a passerby reported the doors were opened and flames coming from the car.
According to a report by Deputy Taylor Ward with the Greene County Sheriff’s Department, upon arrival deputies noticed the vehicle in the middle of the road with the roof caved in and no one around it. The vehicle had already been fully engulfed, and the fire had almost burned out. Broken glass along with a boot and floor mats were located around 10 feet behind the vehicle. No vin number or license plate were able to be located. The vehicle was able to be identified as a Jeep Grand Cherokee by a “Cherokee” emblem recovered nearby.
