We always remember hearing as we were growing up that firemen were good at getting cats out of trees. Now we know they are also good at rescuing them when they are trapped under concrete.
Pickles lives with his human family on Pinecrest Drive in Greeneville and when he wandered next door to the dentist office on Sunday, he wound up stuck under concrete.
Cries for help Monday led to a 9-1-1 call which brought Greeneville Fire Station 1 to the scene . Battalion Chief Benji Ryans, Lt. Ryan Holt and firefighter Andrew Ruthven assessed the situation and received permission from the dentist office to do whatever was necessary to get Pickles out of….a pickle.
The firefighters were able to cut enough concrete away to reach Pickles and bring him to safety.
Although he was a bit dill about his experience, Pickles said everything the men did to save him was puuuuuurrrrrfect…..
