SOFTBALL
Greeneville 14, Cherokee 4
The Greeneville softball team beat the ball all over the park on Thursday night as it took down Cherokee 14-4 for its second District 2-3A win this week.
The Lady Greene Devils pounded 17 hits in the win with eight players collecting at least one hit and five players earning multiple hits.
Kinslee Lewandowski led the way going 4-for-4 with two runs scored. Kyla Jobe was 3-for-3 with a double and three RBIs. Kaley Garland was 3-for-4 with a double, and two RBIs. Brynlee Jones was 2-for-4 with a double and three RBIs. Brooke Parsley was 2-for-3 with three runs scored. Addie Lamons had a home run and three RBIs.
Jamie Jackson earned the win from the circle. She struck out two, walked six and allowed nine hits.
North Greene 13, Cloudland 2
The North Greene softball team picked up a 13-2 win over Cloudland on Thursday to stay unbeaten in District 1-1A play.
The Lady Huskies earned 11 hits in the win. Kinlea Eastep went 2-for-5 with a home run and two RBIs. Matti Phillips was 2-for-4 with a double, and three RBIs. Hannah Brooks was 2-for-4 with a double, and two RBIs. Josie Graham was 2-for-3 with an RBI. Heidi Trentham and Loren Blevins both had a double.
From the circle Hannah Brooks had eight strikeouts, two walks and five hits allowed.
BASEBALL
North Greene 9, South Greene 8
In a game marred by miscues the North Greene baseball team was able to squeak out a 9-8 win over South Greene on Thursday night.
The two teams combined to make 12 errors, six from each side. The Huskies got out hit 11-2, but they took advantage of seven walks and four hit batters.
Jake Duffy and Aidan Halley earned North Greene’s two hits.
South Greene earned 11 hits in the loss. Pablo Rosario was 2-for-4 with a triple. Seth Franklin was 2-for-3 with a double. Tyler Davis and Zach Mason also had two hits.
Halley earned the win on the mound. In 5 1/3 innings he struck out eight, walked one and allowed nine hits. Duffy threw 1 2/3 innings with two strikeouts, two walks and two hits allowed.
Franklin took the loss for South Greene. In four innings he struck out six, walked six and allowed two hits.
West Ridge 10, Chuckey-Doak 0
The Chuckey-Doak baseball fell to Wets Ridge on Thursday, 10-0.
The Black Knights were held to three hits in the loss. Kiptyn Ball, Ben Palazzo and Seth Cook each earned one hit.
On the mound Lynkin Cutshaw threw 4 2/3 innings with five strikeouts, three walks and 11 hits allowed.
Canfield (OH) 12, Greeneville 2
The Greeneville baseball team fell to Canfield, Ohio 12-2 on Thursday evening.
The Greene Devils were held to five hits in the loss. Maddox Bishop had a double, Will Harmon had a triple, and Carson Quillen, Kaine Ricker and Conner Ireland each had a single.
Carson Quillen took the loss on the mound. In three innings he struck out two, walked three and allowed four hits. He allowed seven runs, but only two of them were earned.
Canfield used 12 hits and six walks to scored its 12 runs.
TENNIS
The Greeneville Tennis teams split with Seymour on Thursday night. The Lady Devils won 7-2 while the Greeneville boys fell 4-5.
In girls’ singles Greeneville’s Emma Sauceman beat Anica Lubelle 8-3. Genna Renner beat Annabelle Suttheimer 8-2. Grace Lampe beat Sara Vogt 8-1, and Riley Rhea beat Kaitlyn Hill 8-0.
In doubles Greeneville’s Sauceman and Brylee Catron beat Labelle and Jarvis 8-2. Lampe and Renner beat McHan and Suttheimer 8-4. Gonzalez and Rhea beat Watkins and Carr 8-6.
In the boys singles Greeneville’s Dom Tweed beat River Luce 9-8 (7-5). Derrick Day beat Mason Berrier 9-8 (7-5), and Maccormack Cutshall beat Parker Williamson 8-0.
For Seymour Reid Trent beat Jack Lampe 8-6. Bryson Lynn beat Jackson Peters 8-3. Garrett Christensen beat John Chapman 8-5.
In doubles Greeneville’s Peters and Cutshall beat Lynn and Williamson 8-3.
Seymour’s Trent and Luce beat Lampe and Tweed 8-5. Berrier and Christenson beat Chapman and Day 8-2.
