The Tennessee Department of Labor & Workforce Development reported Thursday afternoon the state’s unemployment rate in March declined for the first time since May 2024.
The state’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for March 2025 was 3.6 percent, down slightly from 3.7 percent in February. Tennessee’s rate had been at 3.7 percent for six consecutive months. In March 2024, it was 3.1 percent.
The national unemployment rate for March was 4.2 percent, up slightly from 4.1 percent in February.
