Greeneville 2, AC Reynolds (NC) 0
The Greeneville baseball team got the Buddy Hawk Classic started on Saturday afternoon with a 2-0 win over AC Reynolds, NC.
On the mound the Carson Quillen earned the complete game shutout for the Greene Devils. In seven innings he struck out one, walked two and allowed four hits.
At the plate Greeneville only managed three hits, but scored both runs in the fourth inning. Will Harmon was hit by a pitch and scored on a dropped third strike. Kobe Mundy, who walked, scored on a groundout by Jack Lister.
Carson Norris, Noah Murray and Mundy all had singles for the Greene Devils.
Greeneville improved to 18-5 with the win.
Coalfield 5, West Greene 2
The West Greene Buffaloes hosted the Coalfield Yellow Jackets on Saturday afternoon in the Buddy Hawk Classic and fell 5-2 to the No.2 ranked team in Class 1A.
Against the Buffs, Coalfield batted around eight hits and won 5-2. Seven different players collected hits. Luke Treece delivered the big hit with a solo homer to center field in the sixth. Eli Coleman started on the mound and pitched five innings with three hits, zero earned runs, and five strikeouts.
West Greene only managed four hits from Conner Campbell, Brandon Hunter, Bronson Brown, and Ethan Carpenter. Jhonen Bath and Carpenter delivered the only two RBI’s.
West Greene falls to 14-5 on the year.
Coalfield 10, Chuckey-Doak 0
In the second game of the evening at West Greene Coalfield picked up a 10-0 win over Chuckey-Doak.
Luke Treece led the Yellow Jackets with three hits, two of them being doubles. Levi Heidel and Jordan Steinhauer had two hits each. Luke Treece also led with three RBI’s. Heidel led with three runs.
Chuckey-Doak was held to only three hits from the top three in the lineup, Jake Hinkle, Kiptyn Ball, and Randall Sauceman.
Chuckey-Doak dropped to 11-8 on the year.
Union County 8, North Greene 6
The North Greene baseball team let the lead slip away late on Saturday evening in the Buddy Hawk Classic at Cherokee High School, and fell 8-6 to Union County.
The Patriots put up five runs in the seventh inning to take an 8-4 lead. Union took advantage of three walks and two errors to go along with a single to along with one single.
The Huskies pushed across two runs in the bottom of the frame, but could not complete the comeback.
North Greene earned seven hits on Saturday. Isaac Gaby was 2-for-3 with two runs scored and an RBI. Owen Pierce had a double and two RBIs. Jake Duffy, Brady Malone, Christian Cogdill, and Jaiden Bailley all had singles.
On the mound Malone threw four innings with no strike outs, three walks, and two hits allowed. Duffy threw two innings with one strikeout, three walks and three hits allowed. Britton threw one inning with one walk and one hit allowed.
