A traffic stop just before 9am Sunday on East Andrew Johnson Highway has led to DUI charges against the driver, and an additional charge of Assault on a First Responder.
A Sheriff’s Department Deputy reports he observed a vehicle exiting Walmart toward Harlan Street and running a red light. The Deputy approached the suspect as she attempted to turn into the Zoomers parking lot but she missed the turn and drove into the grass instead. As she backed up the report indicates she nearly struck the cruiser before proceeding into the parking lot.
Jessie A. McCurry of Little Warrensburg Road then exited the vehicle and after failing field sobriety tests was placed into custody and was arrested on a charge of DUI 3rd offense.
After being taken to the Greene County Detention Center, she consented to a blood draw but complained about the needle hurting and became combative and uncooperative. She was restrained but able to grab the wrist of the nurse administering the draw. She was then charged with the additional count of Assault on an officer and/or first responder.
McCurry is scheduled is Sessions Court today.
