A federal grant would help GEA Broadband be able to reach around 2,900 households in Greene County which are currently unserved or underserved by broadband.
GEA Director of Broadband Services Phil Bradley told the GEA Board Tuesday the $42 billon dollar BEAD, or Broadband Equity, Access and Deployment grant, , will be applied for before the April 11th deadline. $800 million of the grant is the Tennessee allotment.
The GEA request will be in the millions, but the amount is not yet known.
