The Tusculum-Greeneville-Greene County Industrial Development Board has accepted the $400,000 offer from Eternal Water for the 23.5 plus acre site for their new facility in the Greene Valley Business Park.
The company, based in California, also has a location in Cocke County.
Nearby property owner Jim Mercer who lives on McAfee Road attended the IDB meeting questioning what issues the new facility might cause from a noise and traffic standpoint.
Robert Stokely with Eternal told Mercer the majority of truck traffic in and out of the facility is between 8 am and 4 pm. Also , none of the vehicles would be traveling on McAfee Road. Tusculum Mayor and IDB Chair Alan Corley says Tusculum is considering having McAfee Road closed somewhere beyond the Greene Valley Property, which would eliminate through traffic. Residents who live on the other side of McAfee Road would then enter and exit from the 107 Highway side. Corley says definitive plans for the road have not yet been finalized, but residents will be notified in advance of any planned changes.
GREENE COUNTY HEALTH DEPARTMENT
8 bids were received for the Greene County Health Department construction. Greene County Mayor and IDB Vice-Chair Kevin Morrison says he will recommend the $5.1 million dollar bid from Merritt Construction for approval during a called meeting of the Purchasing Committee next Monday.
In that the majority of money for the project is through a state grant, the facility must go through Greene County. The Development Board approved a quitclaim deed for the Health Department property to Greene County in order to meet that requirement.
