The National Weather Service in Morristown has stated another afternoon of elevated fire danger.
An exceptionally dry air mass remains in place across the southern Appalachian region. Afternoon relative humidity values are expected to drop into the 15 to 25 percent range across most of the area later today.
Outdoor burning is not recommended, as fires that develop will have the potential to spread very quickly.
The dry air is expected to last through Monday. Then a strong cold front will come through the region Tuesday night and Wednesday. Strong south winds ahead of the system may require a High Wind Warning in the mountains, but continue to monitor the latest forecast for updates on the potential for severe storms.
