As it pertains to the Greeneville Water Commission water intake facility on the river, Superintendent White is hoping to have three of the electric pumps up and running inside the building by early July, which will eliminate need for the emergency diesel pumps outside.
GEA President and CEO Dwayne Wells told his board members during their meeting today one of the 4160 volt transformers which will be installed at the river has been fast tracked for delivery in April. Wells says he’s not sure the river site will be ready by then, but White says she is hoping it will. If so, Wells says his utility will be ready to install it at that time. At the request of the Water Commission, the new one is much larger than the 480 volt one at the river before the flooding. Wells says the only other one in the GEA service area is at The Ball Zinc, now doing business as Artazn
In other agenda items at the Greeneville Water Commission meeting today, the low, and lone bid for the generator project at the river intake facility was approved. The ARP funded project bid was $249,213 from Integration Technology, lower than what the department had originally projected it would cost.
