Two people were taken into custody this morning on drug related and evading charges.
In his report, Greeneville Police Officer Chase Bible says he attempted to stop a BMW around 2:25 am at the Bohannon Avenue/Austin Street intersection for an expired drive out tag.
The car however pulled away and attempted to evade officers until Police terminated the pursuit at Tusculum Boulevard and North Main. A few minutes later, Police were dispatched to an unoccupied vehicle on North Hardin Street. Officer Bible confirmed it was the vehicle that fled officers.
K9 Rip then tracked through a wooded area in the 400 block of North Hardin behind a residence where two people were found hiding. Cody C. Reed of Ponderosa Drive, Greeneville and Autumn Payne of Rambling Road, Chuckey were both taken into custody.
Both denied they were driving the vehicle. The report indicates a third person may have been inside the car as well.
Both Reed and Payne were charged with felony evading and unlawful drug paraphernalia. A search also led to Payne being additionally charged with possession of schedule two drugs.

Just before 10 pm Monday, Officer Bible observed a pickup truck driving in the center of the road and crossing double yellow lines on South McKee near East McKee Steet.
The driver, Kassie M. Whitehead of House Road, Greeneville , was taken into custody on charges of possession of schedule three drugs , driving on a suspended license and driving left of center.
