The Greeneville Big Lots store will remain in operation. The company assisting Big Lots with its bankruptcy proceeding filed the list in court documents showing the store at 1475 East Andrew Johnson Highway, along with the Morristown, Rogersville, Jefferson City, and Johnson City Big Lots, are staying open and under the Big Lots name.
The local store has replaced the “Closing Soon” sign with a “The Comeback Starts Soon” sign. The reopening is scheduled for May 15th. Applications for potential employee are now being taken.
Boston based Gordon Brothers Retail Partners, an asset liquidation firm, is assisting Big Lots in the process, and in court filings listed 200 locations that may remain open. The leases for those stores would be taken over by Variety Wholesalers. Variety Wholesalers is based in Henderson, North Carolina. it operates Roses Discount stores, Bill’s Dollar Stores, Bargain Town, and Roses Express across the southeast. They operate over 400 stores.
Big Lots was the fourth largest home goods retailer when it filed for bankruptcy, and listed nearly 1,400 stores nation wide at the beginning of 2024.
