It’s usually those weeks where you don’t have a lot of things on the calendar under your keyboard that turns into a busy week. And yes, I still have a calendar under my keyboard.
SCHOOLS
Students in both local systems are out of school until Wednesday for mid-winter break, with teachers back in the classrooms on Tuesday.
The Greene County Board of Education has an Education Workshop Thursday, and we expect to hear plans moving forward for the selection of the next Director of School search after the deadline passed on Thursday.
BALLAD HIRING EVENT
We’ll be in attendance Monday at Greeneville Community Hospital as Ballad Health Care conducts a hiring event from Noon till 4 in the hospital lobby.

GREENEVILLE, Tenn. – Ballad Health is hosting a hiring event that will bring clinical and nonclinical job opportunities to Greeneville Community Hospital.
From noon to 4 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 17, job seekers are invited to the lobby of Greeneville Community Hospital, 1420 Tusculum Blvd., where Ballad Health leaders will be on hand to match them to open roles. Attendees will meet with hiring managers to learn more about available roles and potentially receive a job offer on the spot.
Various clinical roles are available, including registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, roles in imaging such as radiology and ultrasound technologists, surgical technologists, physical therapists and respiratory therapists. Recruiters are also seeking to fill teacher and teachers’ assistant roles for the nearby Center for Early Learning childcare facility.
Several long-term care positions, including registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, certified nursing assistants and nursing assistants, are also available.

GREENE COUNTY COMMISSION
Since tomorrow is Presidents Day, the Greene County Commission moved its regular monthly meeting to Tuesday 6 pm at the Greene County Courthouse. The Campground regulations proposal will not be on the agenda until next month, but that doesn’t mean it might not still be talked about.

The Greeneville City Council also meets Tuesday at 4 in the G. Thomas Love Board Room at the Greeneville Energy Authority building.

BLACK HISTORY MONTH
In recognition of Black History month, there will be a program at the Andrew Johnson Gym located at 101 West McKee Street in
Greeneville Saturday afternoon from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM. The program is called “A Look Through The Years”. The event will showcase a
skit, praise dancing, a flag performance, motivational speakers and more. Everyone is invited to the free event.
LINCOLN DAY DINNER
Monday is the deadline to purchase tickets for the annual Lincoln Day Dinner, the biggest fundraiser of the year for the Greene County Republican Women. Tickets are $100 each from any member of the Greene County Republican Women’s Club. Table sponsorships are available for $800. Senator Marsha Blackburn will be the keynote speaker and will be introduced by Congressman Diana Harshbarger.
NORTH GREENE FFA
The North Greene FFA Agricultural Issues Team will be in the regional competition this coming Saturday morning.
Team members are Chloe Keys, Hayden Cooter, Heidi Trentham, Emma Grace Meadows, Laura Keffer, Ashley Fulton and Erin Casteel. Their instructor is Chuck Michael.
The FFA competition discusses a current issue in the community. The North Greene group chose the topic of implementing Middle School Agriculture programs in the Greene County School System.
The regional competition begins at 9 Saturday at West Greene. The top two in the regional will advance to state competition.
