The new Johnson Farms residential development is moving closer to streets within the new development being able to be added to the Town of Greeneville official street list.
Planning Administrator Randy Davenport told City Council members earlier this week discussions with contractor D.R. Horton appear headed toward the streets being brought up to required standards outlined in the city code.
In December, the Municipal Planning Commission decided not to recommend adopting the streets in the development due to concerns over poor construction as it pertains to streets, sidewalks, curving and catch basins.
Davenport and Assistant Public Works Director Scott Keith say the Horton group and some outside contractors responsible for certain issues have agreed to make the necessary corrections.
When complete to specs, Davenport says the nearly 2 1/2 miles of roads within the planned home development can again be discussed by the Municipal Planning Commission for possible presentation to the City Council for their approval.
Being on the official street list would guarantee residents all services offered by the city, such as trash pick, police patrol and fire coverage.
When all constructions are complete, the planned 380 home residential development would be the largest ever in Greeneville.
