The Tennessee Department of Labor & Workforce Development reported Thursday that the state’s unemployment rate in December was 3.6 percent, up slightly from 3.5 percent in November.
Tennessee employers added 500 nonfarm jobs between November and December. During the past year, total nonfarm employment across the state increased by 45,400 jobs. The state recorded the record-low rate of 3 percent in May, June and July.
The national unemployment rate for December 2024 was 4.1 percent, down from 4.2 percent in November.
County unemployment data for December will be released next week.
