A Chuckey residence was heavily damaged by fire Saturday afternoon.
The home owner was hospitalized and not there when the fire began at the 1700 Barren Valley Road home.
The home was valued at $50,000, A Greene Counnty Sheriff’s Department report indicates a box fan in a back bedroom is believed to have been where the fire began.
The Tusculum Volunteer Fire Department responded to assist the Nolichuckey Valley Volunteer and Limestone Volunteer Fire Departments.
In addition to firefighters and the Sheriff’s Department, EMS, and Greeneville Energy Authority also responded to the 5 pm call.
