Quick response by volunteer fireman and a fire extinguisher kept a fire from spreading to nearby gas pumps on Sunday.
A Dodge pickup truck had pulled between the fuel pumps and the front of the Blue Springs Market in Mosheim when smoke and flames erupted from the engine compartment. Town of Mosheim Chief James Foshie said that two Midway volunteer firemen happened to be near the scene when the fire broke out. They were able to hold the fire at bay with a fire extinguisher and keep it from spreading to the nearby gas pumps.
Foshie said Town of Mosheim trucks were on the scene within three minutes and further doused the fire. Foshie said firefighters also kept a nearby propane tank cooled and protected until the fire was completely out.
No cause of the fire was known. The Greene County Sheriff’s Department is investigating.
