The latest update from the National Weather Service Office In Morristown at 3:48 this morning issued an Extreme Cold Weather Warning until 2 pm today for the mountainous areas of Southeast Greene County.
A Cold Weather Advisory is in effect until Noon today for Northeast Greene County, including Greeneville.
The warning for the higher elevations indicates Wind Chills at between 15 and 20 below zero. The wind chill in the lower elevations will be 5 to 10 below.
A high temperature today is only expected near 20 with overnight lows in single digits the next two nights, around 9 tonight and around 4 degrees overnight Tuesday.
Daytime highs will climb to around the freezing mark by Wednesday, in the mid 30s Thursday and Friday and back into the mid 40s on Saturday and Sunday with the next chance of precipitation on Sunday.
