REGION 1 BOWLING
Teams from District 1 had a field day against their opponents in the Region 1 Bowling Tournament Wednesday at Holiday Lanes. All four teams knocked off teams from District 2 and advanced to the finals. It was there weher the Dobyns Bennett Lady Indians and the Chuckey Doak Black Knights came away with the championships and the right to host teams from Region 2 with the opportunity to advance to the state tournament next week in Smyrna.
Girls Semi-Finals
Cherokee over Gibbs 14-13 (Gibbs took total pinfall 2047 – 2043)

Boys Semi-Finals
Dobyns Bennett over South Doyle 21-6 (DB takes total pinfall 2511 – 2146)

Girls: Dobyns Bennett over Cherokee 16-11 (DB takes total pinfall 2127 – 1923)
Boys: Chuckey Doak over Dobyns Bennett 18-9 (CD takes total pinfall 2486 – 2360)
Sectional Schedule:
Dobyns Bennett girls will host Oak Ridge at 4:30 pm on Thursday, January 16 at Warpath Lanes.
Cherokee girls will travel to Maryville on Friday, January 17 to Cresent Lanes at 3:30 pm
Dobyns Bennett boys will travel to Cleveland on Friday, January 17 to Leisure Time Lanes at 1:00 pm
Chuckey Doak boys will host William Blount at 10:30 am on Saturday, January 18 at 10:30 am
Chuckey Doak’s Gavin Murray was named as a finalist for the TSSAA Mr. Bowling award. He, along with two other finalists, will be mentioned at the state tournament next week, with the winner being announced on Wedesday.
