The Tennessee Highway Patrol responded to nearly 650 crashes statewide during this weekend’s snowstorm and provided aid to nearly 900 stranded drivers.
Of the 645 crashes investigated, 518 involved property damage and 127 involved injuries. There were three fatal crashes statewide during the storm.
In addition, more than 870 stranded drivers were assisted by THP troopers, who responded to more than 1,700 calls for assistance from the public.
To address the storm’s challenges, the THP implemented a comprehensive response plan which included increased patrols and assistance, particularly in mountainous regions and major interstates. The THP also partnered with TDOT, local law enforcement and TEMA to manage road closures, and kept the public informed through social media updates and traffic alerts.
