Greene County received between two and three inches of snow from the first winter storm of 2025.
Wintry conditions arrived around noon on Friday and quickly left roadways snow-covered and slippery. The Greeneville Police Department implemented its inclement weather plan Friday afternoon, in which officers were not responding to crashes unless there were injuries or a vehicle required towing.
Most roads remain snow-covered this morning and driving is strongly discouraged. Highway 11-E through Greene County is passable for at least one lane of traffic in each direction from Bulls Gap to Limestone.
While the snowfall is done, it will be windy this afternoon with highs near freezing and lows tonight in the mid teens. Sunshine is expected to return for Sunday, with highs in the upper 30s to allow for some melting.
