The search for a man with memory issues will resume Tuesday morning after being halted due to darkness Monday night.
The Greene County Sheriff’s Department said that 60-year-old Danny Smith was last seen around 11:00 PM Sunday at a residence in the 400 block of Mulberry Road in the Stomper community near the Baileyton Road/Ottway Road area. A person at the home woke up around 10:00 AM Monday and discovered Smith missing. He was wearing a gray sweatshirt with a maroon short sleeve shirt over it and blue jeans. He is believed to have left on foot in an unknown direction of travel.
The Sheriff’s Department, Rescue Squad, United, Newmansville, and Debusk Volunteer Fire Departments, along with the TBI conducted a search of the nearby areas Monday afternoon until well after dark. Heat detecting drones and K-9 units were also being used, but Smith was not located. Searchers suspended their operations around 8:00 PM and will resume their search Tuesday morning.
The family reported to the Sheriff’s Department that Smith is very forgetful and they believe he has Alzheimer’s.
Anyone who has seen Danny Smith or knows of his whereabouts is asked to call the Greene County Sheriff’s Department at 798-1800 or 911.
