Day 1 Results:
Game 1: Daniel Boone 72, Chuckey Doak 59
The first game of the 35th annual Ladies Classic saw the Daniel Boone Lady Trailblazers take on the Chuckey Doak Lady Black Knights. The Lady Blazers, behind Andrea Flores’ 27 points, jumped out to a 17-9 lead after the first and extended that advantage to 43-23 lead at the half.
Kennedy Brown’s 18 points and Tavyn Southerland’s 15 points helped the Lady Knights outscore the Blazers 21-13 in the third, cutting the lead to 56-44. The fourth quarter was back and forth with the Blazers sealing the 72-59 win.
Chuckey Doak will play Friday morning at 9:00am, while Boone plays Spring Valley, WV at 4:30 pm.
Game 2: Crockett 61, Morristown West 46
The David Crockett Lady Pioneers took control early and held on for the 61-46 win in game two. Brylee Tulluck scored a team high 26 points as the Lady Pioneers jumped out to a 20-11 lead after the first quarter. The lead extended to 41-25 at the half before both teams played even the rest of the way. Crockett’s Aalyiah Story scored 8 points to help push her over the 1000 point mark for her career. The Lady Trojans were led by Jhaniya Mithchell’s 20 points.
Morristown West will play Chuckey Doak Friday morning at 9:00am, while Crockett will play Marist, GA at 9:00pm.
Game 3: Riverside, SC 67, South Greene 63
The third game of the opening day saw the Riverside Lady Warriors from South Carolina take a slim 16-15 lead over South Greene after the first quarter. Madison Garrido and Allie Poe put the Lady Warriors on their back and looked to pull away leading 42-27 at the half. Garrido finished with 26 points, while Poe collected 18.
The Lady Rebels would not go away in the second half. The trio of Kortnei Bailey, Samantha Birdwell, and Arianna Hoese pulled the Lady Rebels to within 3 points with a little under a minute to go in the contest. Bailey finished with 19 points and 12 rebounds, while Birdwell posted 16, and Hoese 14.
South Greene will open up the games on Saturday morning at 9:00am against North Greene, while Riverside will take on Farmington, Arkansas at 1:30pm on Friday.
Game 4: Catholic 52, North Greene 31
Catholic’s Amaya Redd scored 14 points and pushed Catholic by North Greene in the final game of the evening. Her teammate, Maggie Frana secured a double-double (11 points and 19 rebounds) as the Lady Irish took a 22-12 lead at the half and then pulled away in the second half.
The Lady Huskies were led by Kaydence Marshall with 13 points and Hannah Miller with 8.
North Greene will play South Greene Saturday morning at 9am, while Catholic will play Spring Garden, Alabama Friday afternoon at 3:00.
