A truck fire slowed Interstate 81 in Greene County around 2:45 Monday afternoon.
Jovanny Brown of New York, pulled to the side of the roadway after observing smoke from under the hood. He and his two passengers were able to escape the vehicle unharmed as it burst into flames.
The Mosheim Volunteer Fire Department and the Tennessee Highway Patrol responded to the 19 mile marker southbound, about a mile past the weigh station.
Traffic was slowed to one lane, but was stop and go while responders extinguished the fire and cleaned up of the area.
