Greene County Mayor Kevin Morrison says making necessary repairs as it pertains to damage from the September flooding is a balancing act when it comes to getting the National and State funding that’s available, and at the same time not putting the responsibility back on the taxpayers
He told County Commissioners Monday he had learned Friday of an additional $8.2 million dollars in the HEAL program. The state surveyed leaders in the hardest hit areas on their opinions of how those monies should be used.
There are ten bridges that expand the Nolachucky River in Greene County, two of them the responsibility of Greene county to repair. The Ernest and Kinser bridge projects are the state’s financial responsibility.
Other than the bridge issues locally , Morrison admits Greene County came out better than some neighboring counties.
