Calling it the fastest growing high school sport, Dr. Daniel Lewis addressed the Greeneville City Board of Education Tuesday, requested Lacrosse be endorsed beginning in the Spring of 2026.
There has been a high school team for years, operating as the Greeneville Lacrosse Club, but the TSSAA recently sanctioning the sport makes filling a schedule almost impossible without playing as a school adopted sport following TSSAA guidelines.
Lewis reported to the board fundraising to support the program is underway, and is already at 83% of the projected $34,000 goal to cover start up costs and annual expenses, including coaches stipends.
Board Chair Cindy Luttrell told Lewis the board would consider the request at a later time.
