The Greeneville City Council will not get a recommendation at this time from the Municipal Planning Commission for adding streets within the Johnson Farms residential development to the official street lists.
D.R. Horton is the contractor for what Planning Administrator Randy Davenport calls the largest residential development ever in Greeneville.
But Davenport and Assistant Public Works Director Scott Keith showed the commission visual evidence of poor construction as it pertains to streets, sidewalks, curving and catch basin inlets.
Davenport and Keith both recommended against submitting the nearly two miles of streets within the development to the City Council for their approval.
City Attorney Ron Woods also addressed the board on possible issues of adopting the roads as “city streets” without them meeting city requirements for road construction. A representative with the company had been invited to the meeting to discuss the concerns, but did not attend.
A recommendation from Mayor Cal Doty that the commission not recommend the request they be added to the official city street list was approved by unanimous voice vote.
