The National Weather Service Office in Morristown has issued a Special Weather Statement for Greene County.
A Winter Weather Advisory from 5 this afternoon until 7 am Tuesday for Greene County.
Light snow is expected tonight across Northeast Tennessee, with accumulation of a dusting to one-half inch possible.
Snow will develop across the mountains late this afternoon through tonight with snowfall of 1 to 2 inches anticipated, mainly at or above 2500 feet elevation.
Cold temperatures will remain across the Tennessee valley and southern Appalachians through early this week. Wind chills will drop into the single digits to near zero across the higher elevations.
Slow down and use caution if traveling across the higher elevations of the far east Tennessee mountains and southwest Virginia late Monday and Monday night.
Be prepared for the possibility of ice and snow covered roadways. If you plan on traveling on Highway 441 please check with the Smoky Mountain Park first.
