A man faces several charges following an incident outside a Greeneville Warming Shelter around 9:20 pm Saturday.
Greeneville Police report Zebedee Gross of Volunteer Street, was trying to pull a female, reported to be his ex-girlfriend, out of his car. The report indicates two people inside the building heard the disturbance. Once outside , they reported seeing Gross and the victim. The witnesses say they intervened and helped the woman inside the shelter on West Andrew Johnson Highway.
Gross initially left the scene then returned and was said to have instigated an argument, at which time the woman and the two witnesses say Gross pulled a knife and threatened to kill them.
Gross however, left the scene again as Police were arriving but his car was stopped by officers a short time later. Gross told officers he was dropping the woman off at the facility, but she did not want to be left there, which he says prompted the initial altercation between the two.
Charges against Gross include one count of a violation of an order of protection, which the woman had taken out against him earlier. He is also charged with two counts of aggravated assault, one count of aggravated domestic assault, and driving on a suspended license.
Gross was transported to the Greene County Detention Center to await his initial court appearance.
