Police were called to the 1400 block of West Main Street Friday for a welfare check.
Officers arrived at the Dollar General parking lot on West Main around 7:00 Friday evening, for a welfare check on a female passed out in a vehicle. It was reported that the woman had been there around 40 minutes with no one able to wake her.
Officers were unable to rouse the woman until they opened the car door and shook her awake. She was identified as Kristina Collins of Kingsport. She reportedly performed poorly on field sobriety tests and was placed into custody.
During a search, a tube was found in her pocket which contained Xanax and Lortab and Collins was charged with Possession of Schedule III and IV Drugs, in addition to Driving Under the Influence, Second Offense.
