More people cast their vote Tuesday than in any other Presidential Election. Voter turnout was nearly 68%.
18,709 people voted early and 11,226 went to the polls on Tuesday. Another 1,258 voted absentee. A total of 31,193 of the county’s 46,759 registered voters cast a vote this year.
In 2020, 12,633 voted on election day while 15,485 voted early and absentee. A total of 28,118 voted in the last presidential race.
In 2016, 22,973 voted and in 2012 a total of 24,894 voted.
In 2012, 24,068 votes were cast in the election, representing 58.45 percent of the county’s 41,179 registered voters. Of those votes, 11,425 were made during the early vote period and 12,643 were cast on Election Day.
In 2008, 24,894 voters participated in the election out of 39,195 registered voters, for a 63.5 percent turnout. Turnout was just under 70 percent in 2004 and around 45 percent in 2000.
