Election Day this week will also be a remote learning day for students.
David McClain, Director of Greene County Schools, has announced that Tuesday, November 5, will be a Remote Learning Day.
McClain stated that originally on the school calendar, Tuesday was to be a day off for students and a professional development day for employees.
But since the School Districts have already used 9 of the 13 weather days – (South Greene has used 10 due to a fire at the school) – before winter weather or spring flooding seasons have hit – a Remote Learning Day on Tuesday, will save them a day, should they need it for snow or bad weather.
The state allows districts two remote learning days a semester to use at their discretion.
Schools cannot request a waiver for the days missed due to the recent catastrophic flooding, until all weather-related days have been used.
There are a mid-winter break and a spring break built into the schools’ calendar. The district will be doing everything they can, McClain said, to hold onto those days for students and employees.
