The Federal Emergency Management Agency has approved more than $15 million in assistance for over 4,300 households in Tennessee affected by Helene.
Of that $15 million, it was split nearly equally between housing assistance and other needs. FEMA has also set up Disaster Recovery Centers in Greene, Hamblen and Unicoi counties, along with Multi-Agency Resource Centers in Carter, Cocke and Washington counties.
The deadline to apply for FEMA assistance and a low-interest disaster loan from the U.S. Small Business Administration is Monday, December 2. The deadline for SBA Economic Injury Disaster Loans for small businesses, agricultural cooperatives and private non-profit organizations is July 2, 2025.
The Disaster Recover Center in Greene County is open at the Courthouse Annex Monday through Saturday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 5 p.m.
