The Greene County Sheriff’s Department was told by a Cocke County woman that someone had posted a fraudulent advertisement for a home for rent in Greene County.
The Bybee woman said Sunday that she had found a place for rent on the Blue Springs Parkway on Facebook Marketplace. The victim paid $700 for a deposit, and when she went to the home she was told by the residents that it was their house and not for rent.
The owners also told the woman that it was not the first time that an event like that had happened. The investigation into the fraud is continuing.
