Field steams with FEMA will be going door-to-door next week in areas affected by the floods from Hurricane Helene. They will be accompanied by deputies with the Greene County Sheriff’s Department.
FEMA staff will have identification, FEMA labeled clothing, and will be accompanied by a Sheriff’s Department escort vehicle. They will be assessing damages to houses and buildings and providing information on FEMA benefits.
If a property has a “No Trespassing” sign posted, FEMA will not enter that property. It will be up to that homeowner to contact or apply for FEMA assistance in the event of damages or losses due to the floods.
FEMA staff will be working from 9AM until 6PM each day until all the community needs are met.
FEMA can provide assistance for food, medicine, housing, home repairs, schools supplies and more. You must register, however at disasterassistance.gov
