United States Senator Marsha Blackburn visited Greene County on Friday to meet with local official and offer her office’s assistance to those affected by the floods of Hurricane Helene.
Blackburn visited the Kinser Bridge and reiterated the pledge by Governor Bill Lee and TDOT that the bridge will be completed by the middle of next year.
That contract has been awarded. They’re going to be able to begin that construction and it should be finished by the middle of 2025. I know everybody will say “(You) can’t get that done fast enough”, but we got out there this morning so we could do a little assessing on the debris and cleanup that needs to be done quickly so construction can begin.
Blackburn said that FEMA assistance will continue to help those who suffered losses of homes due to the floods.
There will be assistance available through FEMA and the multi-agency resource center is going to open over at the courthouse annex. and (EMA Director) Heather (Sipe) and the Mayor and I worked on that a little bit this morning. That is going to be a great one-stop shop.
Blackburn said her office remains available for those who may have lost documents, such as income tax returns, business documents, Veteran’s Affairs, social security, or other records that might be needed.
Senator Blackburn said the best place to start if you need assistance from her office is through her webpage at blackburn.senate.gov.
