A Fall Branch man was arrested on aggravated assault and attempted kidnapping charges Wednesday.
Washington County deputies were searching for a truck stolen from the 2700 block of Boones Creek Road when a call came in regarding a man armed at a residence in the 600 block of Old Stage Road. When deputies arrived at the scene, the stolen vehicle was in the driveway.
A man, identified as 28-year-old Jonathan Taylor Cox of Fall Branch, was inside the vehicle, where deputies found ammunition and a handgun. Cox claimed to be the owner of the truck. The victims inside the residence told deputies that Cox had been previously trespassed from the property. The victims said when Cox arrived at the residence, he entered through the back door and began waving the handgun he found in the stolen vehicle. He allegedly threatened two people in the home and attempted to force one of them to leave with him. When he walked out to the truck, one of the victims called 911.
Deputies transported Cox, who is a convicted felon, to the Washington County Detention Center. He was charged with two counts of aggravated assault, attempted kidnapping, aggravated burglary, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, unlawful possession of a firearm, theft of property over $10,000, and identity theft.
