If you need water for consumption and have a physical disability or a condition that prevents you from leaving your home, contact the EMA office at 798-1729 and request water be delivered to your home.
With the drinkable water supply having run dry for residents of Greene County, the office of Emergency Management has announced water distribution points will be opened on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.
Those who live north of the river can go to the Greeneville/Greene County Municipal Airport from 3:00 PM until 5:00 PM. The Greeneville Police Department will be checking for IDs showing Greene County residency. All traffic will come in from 11-E to the Baileyton Access Ramp to White House Road and to Airport Road. Traffic exiting will travel Airport Road to the Kingsport Highway. There will be NO EXCEPTIONS to this.
The Orebank Volunteer Fire Department is giving out bottled water and non-potable water (bring your own container) at the Orebank Community Center.
Residents south of the river can go to one of the following sites from 3-5 PM:
- Marathon Quick Stop Market – 3685 Erwin Highway
- Camp Creek Volunteer Fire Department – 700 Greystone Road
- South Greene High School – 7469 Asheville Highway
- Caney Branch Volunteer Fire Department – 11423 Newport Highway
- Scepter Aluminum Recycling – 1230 Pottertown Road
This water distribution is for Greene County residents only. You will be required to show an ID showing Greene County residency. If you have recently moved here, you can bring a utility bill showing your service address.
Chuckey Utility District is providing water. They were able to run a line across the closed Earnest Bridge on Saturday and begin some water distribution. That was extended yesterday to also include the parking lot of the Farmer’s Daughter at 7700 Erwin Highway. You must bring your own clean 20 gallon container. The hours and locations of the sites are announced daily through Chuckey Utility’s website, app, and on the air here.
These water distributions are for DRINKING WATER only and there may limits.
