The Nolichucky River is still expected to crest overnight so water will continue to rise.
Officials are unsure how much the water will rise because the river gauge at Embreeville in Unicoi County washed away earlier today.
There have been several water rescues in Greene County today. A driver on Old Fort Road off Chuckey Pike was stranded earlier today. Water was reportedly up to the woman’s neck when the Greeneville Emergency & Rescue Squad and the Tusculum Volunteer Fire Department reached her.
Motorists are reminded to not attempt to cross any water covered roadways.
