Three people were transported to the hospital after a two-car accident in Mosheim Tuesday night.
The wreck happened after 8 PM near the Dulaney Road and West Andrew Johnson Highway intersection, near the Dollar General. The driver of one vehicle was trapped in the car until emergency volunteers arrived on the scene.
According to the Mosheim Police Department report, when Officer Lawson arrived he found one vehicle in a ditch. The driver was trapped behind the steering wheel, and one woman was outside of the vehicle. Another car was still in the middle of the road.
After clearing the crash scene, the officer responded to the Emergency Room and spoke with two of the victims, with help from a Spanish translator. The driver of vehicle one, Jose Ortega, and a passenger, Merari Reyes Dimas, stated they were traveling eastbound on the highway when a Chevrolet Silverado pulled out in front of them. They were unable to avoid the Chevy and reportedly ended up in a ditch.
The driver of the second vehicle, Jerry Sheline, said he was turning left from the West Andrew Johnson Highway onto Dulaney Road. He said he saw headlights in the distance and got into the roadway, and that’s when the crash occurred. All three involved in the accident suffered non-incapacitating injuries. No charges were listed in the report.
EMS responded with three ambulances, along with the Greeneville Emergency & Rescue Squad, the Town of Mosheim and Mosheim Volunteer Fire Departments, Greene County Sheriff’s Department, Mosheim Police, and the Tennessee Highway Patrol.
