Residents believe wind may have added to the cause of a fire on Saturday afternoon on the 100 block of Mount Pleasant Lane.
The Greene County Sheriff’s Office arrived on the scene at about 12:30 and found the front part of the house on fire. According to the report, someone in the home smelled smoke. After searching to find where the smell came from, it was discovered to be coming from the front porch.
The report states residents believe wind may have caused the ashtray outside to catch fire, starting flames on the porch. No injuries were reported. Damage is estimated to be around $250,000.
